I will make you all a bet on this one.
OK, much to my dismay and to the dismay of many, our County Board did pass a resolution to spend $40,000 to build a WIFI access tower in the Town of Lincoln. That $40,000 was matched by the State in some bogus grant.
So here is my bet for $100 ( First come, first served, limit, one bet)
I WILL BET YOU THAT IN ONE YEAR FROM NOW, AFTER THAT TOWER IS INSTALLED, IT WILL HAVE PROVIDED WIFI ACCESS TO LESS THEN 10 HOMES IN LINCOLN TOWNSHIP!
FURTHER WHEN THE FINAL NUMBERS ARE PROVIDED, we know a minimum of $80,000 and it will probably be in excess of $100,000 for this one tower that the average acquisition cost per customer on that service will be about $8,000.
WILL ANY PERSON, LIKE THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR WHO DREAMED UP THIS SPEND BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE? THAT WON'T HAPPEN BECAUSE THERE WON'T BE ANY ACTUAL REPORTING DONE AFTER THE FACT.
YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK. MEANTIME, WITH THE RISING WATERS OF LAKE MICHIGAN, FLOOD DAMAGE IS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER.
